Dean Health Plan awards 8 Wellness Grants to area organizations
Funds will be used to improve employee health and well-being

Dean Health Plan awarded $10,000 total in wellness grants to eight area organizations to support their employee wellness programs.Grants are awarded annually to help Dean Health Plan clients enhance or launch wellness initiatives. For example, Sielaff Corporation, Mineral Point, was awarded a grant to launch a Latino Health Awareness Initiative for their workforce. St. Olaf Congregation, DeForest, received a grant to offer stress reduction programming. And Jones Dairy Farm, Fort Atkinson, was awarded a grant to start an ergonomic program, offer first aid training, and increase resources to promote employees’ mental health.
“We are committed to supporting the health and well-being of the community and our members. Our employer groups are a great place to start to establish new healthy patterns,” said Teri Helmke, Director—Employer Health Services at Dean Health Plan. “We offer the best first place for members to trust us with their health care.”
Dean Health Plan accepts employer applications for its wellness grants annually. A multi-disciplinary committee reviews the applications and uses a rating system to determine recipients. The Fall 2022 wellness grant application is now open for insured groups.
"Award-winners successfully demonstrated that their wellness programs are measurable and align with a ‘whole person’ approach to wellness,” said Helmke. Dean Health Plan has a Platinum award-winning Health & Wellness Program through the Wellness Council of America.
The following additional organizations received grants:
- W & A Distribution Services, Fort Atkinson
- Hold a health promotion challenge during the traditional holiday season
- Rock County, Rock N’ Wellness Committee, Janesville
- Add equipment and programming to the newly opened Wellness Center
- School District of Cambridge
- Open a “Zen Den” for teachers and staff who need a moment of quiet or mindfulness
- Eckdhal Family Dentistry, Monroe
- Begin offering program designed specifically for promoting mental and physical health of dental providers that includes education, equipment and videos
- The Arc Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac
- Hold a summer slim down challenge that provides onsite vegetable gardens, healthy snacks and meals
The grant recipients will provide outcomes from their programming later this year. Dean Health Plan accepts employer applications from Dean Health Plan clients for its wellness grants annually every fall. For information and resources, visit deancare.com/workplacewellness.
