Dean Health Plan earns Five-Star Rating for 2018 Medicare Advantage!
Dean Health Plan is proud to announce that we have earned 5 stars out of a possible 5 for all Medicare Advantage coverage options from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as part of its annual Star Ratings for 2018.
This distinction is the best rating possible and reflects a high quality of care and service. CMS rated 384 Medicare Advantage contracts this year. Dean Health Plan’s contract is one of only 15 nationally to have earned the overall 5-star rating for Medicare Advantage with prescription drug plans.
CMS calculates and shares Star Ratings for Medicare health and drug plans to help beneficiaries and their families compare plans based on quality and performance. Ratings are given for quality measures across several categories including managing chronic conditions, helping members stay healthy, member satisfaction, and pharmacy services.
Medicare beneficiaries are limited in the times they can enroll in and change Medicare Advantage and Part D plans (Annual Enrollment Period). A Special Enrollment Period (SEP) allows beneficiaries to enroll in plans outside of these times and there are many conditions which make someone eligible for these periods. An SEP allows a person to join or switch to a five-star Medicare Advantage or Part D plan.
Five-star plans' SEP starts Dec. 8 of the year before the plan is considered a five-star plan, and ends Nov. 30 of the year the plan is considered a five-star plan.
