The main entrance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital is located at 700 S. Brooks Street, across the street from the main entrance to SSM Health Outpatient Center. If parking in the ramp connected to the SSM Health Outpatient Center, take the elevator to the main floor and cross the street to enter the hospital. If you are sending gifts, letters, or documents, please use the mailing address of 700 S. Park Street, Madison, WI which is recognized by USPS.

Visitor Guidelines

Masking Guidelines

  • SSM Health has discontinued its universal masking policy.
  • Masks are no longer required unless you have respiratory symptoms.
  • Patients will continue to be screened for respiratory symptoms, and masks will be provided for those who need one.
  • We support patients and visitors who choose to wear a mask.

Hospital Visitor Guidelines

  • Persons with colds or infectious diseases are asked not to visit.  
    • Visitors who have known or suspected COVID-19 should postpone their visit for 10 days after symptom onset.
  • Two visitors per patient.
    • Visitors/support persons aged 16 and under do not count toward the two-visitor limit, are allowed on all floors except ICUs and NICU, and must be accompanied by an adult.
    • Significant other or support person does not count toward the two-visitor limit for Birth Suites and Family Care Suites.
    • One support person per patient allowed in Emergency Department waiting room, as space allows.
    • Compassionate care exceptions may be made in end-of-life situations, or when a visitor is essential for the patient's emotional well-being and care, with permission of nursing leader. No age restrictions, but an adult must be present.
  • Patients who are COVID-positive, presumptive positive, or under investigation for a COVID infection may have visitors. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. Please check in with nursing staff before entering the room.
  • Visitors may leave the hospital and return as needed. Visitors must remain the same per day (new day begins at 12 am).
  • All hospital visitors are encouraged to remain in the patient room during the duration of their visit to limit travel throughout the facility.
