COBRA stands for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation, which is a federal law enacted in 1985. This law requires most insured and self-insured group health plans to provide continuation of coverage to employees, spouses and dependents who lose coverage under the plan for certain reasons. This section outlines what employers need to know about COBRA.
Some medical services or provider visits require prior authorization by Dean Health Plan. This helps us manage your employees’ care and ensure they get what they need and if it’s medically necessary. Your employees should ask their primary care provider about obtaining authorization before receiving the service or going to a specialist.
