Vaccine clinic success

SSM Health mobile clinics vaccinate more than 550 teens

Jun 08, 2021

In May, children between the ages of 12-15 became eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Parents and their adolescent children attended two vaccination clinics held in Madison at the William G. Lunney Lake Farm County Park and at the Channel 3 News station.

A total of 565 people received vaccinations—304 at the news station and 261 at the park site. The Lunney Park clinic was sponsored by Dean Health Plan, SSM Health, the Foundation for Dane County Parks and Dane County Parks as part of our "Healthy Parks, Healthy You" initiative and included fun activities and free refreshments.

"About 90% of the people who were vaccinated were teens with their parents coming after school," said Kelly Nemo, Senior Prevention and Health Promotion Coordinator. "There was a lot of relief and gratitude expressed by the families."

SSM Health has given more than 248,000 vaccinations.
