More common medications available with $0 copay

Jun 28, 2019

Dean Health Plan makes it easier for our members to stay on top of their health. That’s why we’re adding even more preventive drugs to our list of drugs available to them for $0. That means as of July 1, 2019, they can receive any drug on our list of preventive drugs for a $0 copay. Currently, this benefit is available for large group commercial members, pre-ACA small group members and pre-ACA individual members.

Preventive drugs protect or manage against some high-risk medical conditions. Taking these preventive drugs regularly as prescribed can help avoid serious health problems or complications, reducing the number of doctor visits and trips to the hospital. This may lead to lower overall health care costs for our members.

The preventive drugs on our list are select tier 1 and tier 2 medications. Below is a high-level list of the drug categories included.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 drugs on formulary in the following drug categories:
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Cholesterol
  • Asthma & COPD
  • Diabetes
  • Osteoporosis
  • Antiplatelets and Anticoagulants – commonly known as blood thinners
