Indoor Winter Fun
Beat the winter blahs with local out-of-the-cold outings
The cold may be keeping your kids inside and out of school, but that doesn’t mean they’re not still filled with energy. To get them running around without bringing the house down, you need a fun, active indoor destination. Take the kids to any of these nearby locales and enjoy some great exercise and family time.
Play at an indoor waterpark: With Wisconsin’s wide array of indoor waterparks, it’s always swimsuit season. Located inside Madison’s Holiday Inn Hotel, Crawdaddy Cove Water Park is a prime spot for younger kids to splash around, featuring slides, waterpark jungle gyms and a basketball hoop. For a higher intensity swimming experience, make the trip to Great Wolf Lodge, home of the Howlin’ Tornado™ and plenty of other crazy water rides.
Go for a round of mini golf: Hit the links at Vitense Golfland with 18 holes based on signature Madison landmarks. You’ll putt through the State Capitol and take aim in front of neon-lit fireworks, all while your kids crawl through play equipment along the way. Once you’re done, grab a bite at the concessions stand or take a remote-controlled boat out for a spin. There’s enough here to keep your kids entertained for hours.
Build your brain at Madison Children’s Museum: Work out your kids’ minds with interactive science exhibits and crafting activities available year-round. Events are updated regularly, so scope out the calendar and pick out unique programs to participate in.
Run wild at Keva Sports Center: Though winter class registration has ended, there’s plenty more recrecational opportunities to keep your kids entertained. Open play is available several days a week, plus you can skip the babysitter by dropping your kids off for Keva’s Parents Night Out while you spend a relaxing evening on the town.
