Dean's Registered Dietitians (RD) are the experts in food and nutrition and help to promote healthful eating. They provide individuals and their families with practical nutrition guidance in the following areas. Medical Nutrition Therapy
Dean dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy to help manage health conditions including:
Meal plans are individualized to meet personal health needs, food preferences and lifestyle.
Dean dietitians can assist with eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders. In a safe, non-judgemental environment, our dietitians help individuals identify their eating patterns and develop strategies for meeting their nutritional needs.
Dean dietitians provide nutrition counseling on low-cholesterol and low-fat diets, consistent with the National Cholesterol Education Program guidelines. Patients with high cholesterol and/or triglyceride levels are encouraged to meet with a Dean dietitian.
Dean dietitians work closely with primary care physicians and referring specialists, including Dean's Comprehensive Weight Management Program, to help individuals develop skills to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
Diabetes Management Support
Dean dietitians work closely with referring physicians and diabetes nurse specialists to assist those with diabetes in modifying their diet to maintain good blood glucose levels. Our dietitians help teach the Living Well With Diabetes class, which is for people with Type 2 Diabetes. This class focuses on providing knowledge and skills in diabetes self-management.
