Maternal-Fetal Medicine, also called Perinatology, provides advanced care to women before and during their pregnancies. || Consultative Services
Our team offers medical care before and during pregnancy for women with pre-existing conditions or medical conditions that arise in pregnancy, working closely with the patient’s obstetrical provider.
|| Ongoing Prenatal Care
Our team provides care throughout pregnancy, including tests of fetal well-being.
|| Complete Ultrasound Services
Our ultrasound services include routine screening ultrasounds, level 2 ultrasounds and ultrasound-guided diagnostic procedures, such as Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS).

An Integrated Team
Our team is led by Susan Davidson, MD and Brian Stafeil, MD, specialists in maternal-fetal medicine. Susan Davidson, MD is board-certified in maternal-fetal medicine with more than 20 years of experience in caring for women and their babies. Brian Stafeil, MD, is board-certified in obstetrics and board-eligible in maternal-fetal medicine.
Dean employs a multidisciplinary approach to prenatal care. Physicians, nurses, dietitians, certified diabetic educators, certified lactation counselors, social workers, ultrasonographers and genetic counselors all work together to provide comprehensive care for each patient.
Dean Maternal-Fetal Medicine is located in both Madison (within St. Mary's Hospital) and Janesville (within Dean Clinic - Janesville East).
A Powerful Network of Care
Our staff addresses the complete needs of each mother, baby and family. This goes hand-in-hand with our leading-edge facilities. Should your newborn need specialized care, we work in close partnership with St. Mary’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a Level III facility staffed by physicians and nurses with specific training in high-risk neonatal care.
