J.C. McWilliams MBA, MHP
System Vice President of Managed Care and Network Management
J.C. McWilliams is the System Vice President of Managed Care and Network Management for SSM Health and Dean Health Insurance, Inc. (DHI). In his role, he leads managed care contracting strategy and (provider) network management for SSM and DHI across the system’s multi-state service area. Prior to his current role, J.C. held the position of Vice President of Strategy & Network Management where he led strategic planning, marketing and communications, and network management for DHI. J.C. has been with DHI since 2001 and spent 5 years working at Dean Health System’s Corporate Office and Dean Medical Center. J.C. has also worked for the UW Medical Foundation, Physicians Plus Medical Group, and StrategiCare, a health care consulting firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
J.C. began his journey to Dean from Minneapolis where he earned a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on Finance from Metropolitan State University. He continued his higher education at Edgewood College in Madison where he earned his Master of Business Administration. In addition, J.C. earned his Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP) designation from America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP).
J.C. chose to work in healthcare administration because the industry is professionally challenging and important in people’s lives. He chose to work at SSM/Dean because it is a progressive, vertically-integrated health system with its own health plan, and he feels the company is well-positioned for the future of health care. You can find J.C. outside of the office volunteering for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentoring program, participating in general fitness activities, and enjoying competitive tennis.
