Free Screening Offers Help for Anxiety Sufferers

May 5-9 is Anxiety Awareness Week

MADISON, WI – Dean Foundation and Dean Health System are proud to offer free anxiety screenings during the week of May 5th – 9th, 2008. Free, confidential screenings will be held Wednesday, May 7th, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and 7:30-8:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital, Bay 1 in Madison. Between screenings, everyone is also invited to the free educational presentation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. that evening.

Dr. Bhawani Ballamudi explores how anxiety can affect a wide range of life’ activities in her presentation titled, “Anxiety in the Medical World: How Anxiety Affects Medical Disorders.” Anxiety sufferers often feel nervous, worried, or jittery almost daily or numerous times each week. While it is normal to worry or feel nervous and upset about things, anxiety disorders usually include outright fear, panic, and terror. The fright and terror often keep them from doing daily activities.

Mental health professionals are available to discuss the screening results and provide referrals to local treatment and support resources. Reservations are not required for the screening, but are recommended for the presentations.

To reserve your spot, please call (608) 827-2321. For a phone screening, call (800) 844-6015 during regular business hours. For more information, you can also visit www.dean.org.
