Dean Health System Recognized for Internal Communication
MADISON, WI — Dean Health System’s effort to improve internal communication with physicians and staff has received recognition from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Madison Chapter. An award was presented at the organization’s November 7, 2007 public relations awards event.
The entry, “Relationship Building Through Improved Communications,” focused on Dean’s efforts to improve internal communication with the arrival of Dr. Craig Samitt as our new President & CEO in September 2006. The entry included implementation of an E-communication system featuring regularly scheduled e-mail messages from executive leadership; including Dr. Samitt with his “What’s On My Mind” communication. Other improvements include a more streamlined meeting structure and enhanced opportunities for physician and employee feedback.
The latest Dean physician and employee satisfaction results show that communication has improved. In the 2007 employee satisfaction survey on the question “Communication with Administrative Leadership,” 23.7% indicated “very satisfied” compared with 14.1% in 2006. In the 2007 physician satisfaction survey on the question “Communication with Administrators,” 27% indicated “very satisfied” compared to 13% in 2006.
