Governor Doyle announces E-Health Initiative at Dean
Governor Doyle used Dean’s East
Clinic in Madison on January 25th to announce his state budget
proposal to help healthcare providers implement electronic medical
record systems (EMR). The Governor used the opportunity to acknowledge
Dean’s leadership and success in the use of the EMR, and
Dean’s commitment to quality and patient safety.
“Investments in E-Health initiatives are vital in providing
health care that is patient centered, safe, and cost effective
and is a key component of quality improvement as recommended by
the Institute of Medicine,” said Allison Mooney, Dean Chief
Operating Officer, who joined the Governor at the podium along
with James Goodsett,
MD, Internal Medicine at East Clinic. "The EMR makes
me more efficient, more accountable and more accessible to my
patients," said Dr. Goodsett.
Dean began utilizing the EMR in 2003. The goal is to be fully
implemented across all medical specialties by the end of 2008.
