Money raised by the March of Dimes WALKAMERICA event goes directly to:
• research the causes of premature birth and how it can be prevented,
• support families whose babies must spend time in neonatal intensive care units, and
• provide women with the latest information on having a healthy pregnancy.

Currently in Wisconsin, 1 in 9 babies are born premature. The number of babies born premature has increased 31 percent since 1981. Premature birth can happen without warning and for no known reasons.

The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency that helps fund programs and research, community services, education and advocacy to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
