event goes directly to:
• research
the causes of premature birth and how it can be prevented,
• support
families whose babies must spend time in neonatal intensive
care units, and
• provide women with the latest information
on having a healthy pregnancy.
Currently in Wisconsin, 1 in 9 babies are born premature. The number of babies born premature has increased 31 percent since 1981. Premature birth can happen without warning and for no known reasons.
