Accent Reduction
As an offset of Speech Therapy, Dean offers a specialized Accent Reduction program. The Accent Reduction program is designed for foreign-born professionals who wish to improve their spoken English and pronunciation by reducing a foreign accent or regional dialect. Students will also improve their rhythms, phrasing, and intonations of American English. This seven-week customized course is taught by a Speech Pathologist, and it can be held on-site or at our facilities.
Back Care Seminar
An informative lecture, video, and interactive workshop to provide patients with a better understanding of how they can use their backs properly to avoid future back pain and injury. The seminar focuses on anatomy of the spine, proper posture and body mechanics and how certain activities can affect the spine. Taught by Dean Physical Therapists, the seminar is held once a month. Requires a physician referral.
Continence
Program
This program is intended for adult male and female patients with stress, urge, and/or mixed incontinence. It is applicable to non-surgical as well as pre/post surgical patients. The program utilizes surface EMG (biofeedback) as an evaluative and rehabilitative tool for pelvic floor muscle retraining. Behavioral and dietary modifications are also incorporated in the patient’s treatment program. Requires a physician referral.
Geriatric Risk Assessment Program
Dean's Physical and Occupational Therapists work together to provide physicians, patients, and family members information and treatment for geriatric clients who are at risk for falls or have other home safety issues. Physical Therapists provide evaluation of patient’s range of motion and strength, gait and balance deficits, and assessment of need for assistive device and issuance of appropriate device if required. Follow up treatment can be provided for pain management, gait and balance training, and exercise prescriptions for strength and conditioning of the geriatric patient. Occupational Therapists assess the geriatric patient’s cognition, perception, sensation, motor skills, and daily living skills with attention toward the patient’s home situation to determine if a geriatric patient is still able to be safe and independent in that environment. Physician referral is required and can be for either a Physical or Occupational Therapy consult, or both.
Get Back to Golf Program
Specially trained Dean Physical Therapists provide patient-specific rehabilitation programs for the treatment of associated orthopedic conditions, (low back pain, shoulder impingement, elbow tendonitis, knee dysfunction), and work in conjunction with selected area golf professionals to prevent injury by educating golfers in appropriate flexibility and strengthening exercises, proper set-up posture and swing mechanics to develop a stabilized-spine golf swing. Requires a physician referral.
Hand Therapy
Occupational and Certified Hand Therapists provide evaluation and treatment to patients with hand and upper extremity dysfunction. Diagnoses treated include: traumatic injuries, such as fractures and crush injuries, burns, tendon and nerve lacerations, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, arthritis, neurological and congenital hand conditions. Dean's Hand Clinic team consists of a hand surgeon, nursing and therapy staff.
Lymphedema Management
Dean's specially trained Physical Therapists provide treatment for patients with both primary and secondary lymphedema. The rehabilitation program emphasizes skin care and therapeutic exercise as well as manual lymph drainage techniques and the use of bandaging and compressive garments to manage chronic and progressive lymphedema. Requires a physician referral and evaluation of cardiac and venous insufficiency problems before initiating therapy.
Post-Mastectomy Therapy
Pre-operative consultation and post-operative
treatment is provided for patients requiring a lumpectomy or modified
radical mastectomy (with or without axillary node dissection).
Treatment focuses on patient
post-operative self-care and encompasses instruction in arm support
through proper body mechanics and gentle range of motion exercises
to promote healing of affected limb, restoration of functions
and
improvement of lymph circulation. A physician referral is required.
Spine
Stabilization Program
This structured program teaches patients how to properly develop strength and flexibility in their spine through progressive exercises, which emphasize neutral spine stabilization. The program also incorporates circuit training, physioball exercises, and functional movement to promote spinal stability. This program is appropriate for chronic, sub-acute, and post-operative patients. The class lasts for six weeks and patients are expected to attend group therapy sessions two times per week for the six-week period. Requires a physician referral.
Sports Therapy
Specially trained physical therapists and licensed athletic trainers provide evaluation and treatment of all sports-related and musculoskeletal injuries at any of our locations. The sports medicine clinic team consists of physical therapists and athletic trainers, who work directly with sports medicine physicians to provide comprehensive medical care and rehabilitation therapy services for competitive and recreational athletes of all ages.
Dynamic Orthotic CranioplastySM Program
Located at Sun Prairie Clinic and West Clinic, specially trained and licensed Pediatric Therapists use the Dynamic Orthotic Cranioplasty or DOC Band® to treat infants with plagiocephaly (misshapen head) between the ages of 3 - 18 months. Physician referral is required.
Vertigo/Vestibular (Balance) Program
Specially trained Dean Physical Therapists evaluate and treat patients with vertigo, vestibulo-ocular and balance problems. Vestibular rehabilitation patients are provided with appropriate exercises and positional maneuvers to allow them to manage and control their symptoms. Physician screening is required before obtaining a referral to the program.
Wound Care
Dean’s Physical Therapists assist in the management of wounds, burns, and venous stasis ulcers using hydrotherapy, sharp debridment, and appropriate wound dressings. Occupational Therapists assist in the management of upper extremity wounds and edema. Compressive and vascular therapy is also provided to control lower extremity edema by utilizing sequential-gradient extremity compression treatments, application of Unna boots, and measurement and fitting of compressive stockings. Physician referral is required.
