Rheumatology
Dean Health System’s Rheumatology
specialists (rheumatologists) provide diagnosis, treatment
and rehabilitation care for adults and children with rheumatic
and immune system diseases that affect the joints,
muscles,
tendons, ligaments, connective tissue, and bones.
You may be referred to a rheumatologist if you experience persistent or chronic back, neck or muscle pain, or stiff, swollen and painful joints. Some of the common diseases treated by a rheumatologist include rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis, fibromyalgia, spinal arthritis (ankylosing spondylitis), lupus, gout, tendonitis, bursitis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, Paget's disease and Lyme disease.
Dean's rheumatologists are dedicated to using the most effective treatments and rehabilitation for helping people with chronic rheumatic disorders. Reducing pain, increasing mobility, and improving the quality of life for patients are primary goals.
A patient may also be referred to Dean Therapy Services for physical or occupational therapy.
