Madison, WI (January 10, 2017) - Following a national search, SSM Health is pleased to announce that Christopher Sprowl, MD, has been named President of SSM Health Dean Medical Group. Dr. Sprowl brings 20 years of health care experience both in care delivery and in leadership.

He begins work for SSM Health on March 15, and will be responsible for the performance and growth of physician practices and ambulatory operations across Wisconsin.

“Dr. Sprowl brings a wealth of clinical experience and is a proven physician leader,” said Shane Peng, MD, FAAFP, President, Physician and Ambulatory Operations for SSM Health. “He will be instrumental in helping us continue to provide high-quality, compassionate and personal care to the communities we serve in Wisconsin.”

Prior to MMP, he served as Vice President of the multi-specialty PeaceHealth Medical Group in Washington State. He also helped found and led the Colorado-based Integrated Physician Network, a not-for-profit, self-sustaining, clinically integrated network that has grown to more than 250 providers in multiple specialties. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and holds a Master of Medical Management.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and master’s degree in physical biochemistry from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He earned his medical degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo and his medical management degree from the University of Southern California - Marshall School of Business.
