Dean & St. Mary’s Offer Hands-on Experience for New Dads

Boot Camp for New Dads will give expectant first time dads real-world advice, experience to prepare them for their new baby’s arrival

MADISON – Bringing home your first-born child can be a nerve-wracking experience. Dean & St. Mary’s hope to calm some of those new father nerves with Boot Camp for New Dads.

Experienced dads will be on hand during this three-hour class to share their tips, advice and demonstrate parenting techniques like diaper changing and feeding with their own babies. Dads-to-be can also learn by doing with the opportunity to hold and interact with these three- to five-month-old infants.
While no topic is off limits in this for men, taught by men class, new dads-to-be can expect to learn about and discuss:

  • Handling a newborn
  • Feeding and changing
  • Calming a crying baby
  • Changes in new mom
  • Finding work/home balance
  • Safety issues
  • Your relationship with mom

We invite you to attend the first Boot Camp for New Dads session this Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m. until Noon at Dean Clinic – East, 1821 S. Stoughton Rd. Video opportunities will include dads interacting with each other, dads-to-be changing diapers and interviews will be available with participants and facilitators.

Dads-to-be can register at stmarysmadison.com/babies or by calling (608) 512-4001. The class costs $25.

Boot Camp for New Dads is held the third Saturday of every month, alternating locations between Dean Clinic – East and Dean Clinic – West. You can find the 2015 schedule at stmarysmadison.com/babies.
