Dean Health Plan joins Aon Active Health Exchange for 2015
Open to employer group participants in Madison and Green Bay Markets
MADISON, Wis. (October 8, 2014) -- Dean Health Plan is excited to announce its participation in the Aon Active Health Exchange, one of the country’s leading private health exchanges for active employees. The Aon Active Health Exchange is operated by Aon Hewitt, the global talent, retirement and health solutions business of Aon plc (NYSE: AON).
Dean is participating in the Aon Active Health Exchange to offer products and services to employer groups in the Dean Health Plan and Prevea360 Health Plan service areas. These employers might not otherwise have access to our strong provider network of Dean Clinics and SSM Health Care of Wisconsin hospitals, which includes St. Clare Hospital - Baraboo, St. Mary’s Hospital - Madison and St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. The network also encompasses Hospital Sisters Health System – Eastern Wisconsin Division, which is comprised of four hospitals in northeast Wisconsin – and Prevea Health.
Company leaders say they are starting to see an increase in the number of employer groups that are opting to shift from selecting insurance and networks for their employees, to allowing employees to make their own decisions about plan types and provider networks. Among employers using the Aon Active Health Exchange is Walgreens, whose area employees will now have access to Dean Health Plan and Prevea360 Health Plan.
“We are looking forward to working with Aon Hewitt to serve this new group of members, and in providing access to the local care and high-quality customer service our members have come to expect from Dean Health Plan and Prevea360 Health Plan,” said Frank Lucia, President and CEO of Dean Health Plan.
According to Aon Hewitt, employers and individuals participating in the Aon Active Health Exchange are seeing notable reductions in health care spending for the third straight year.
Across the companies returning to the Aon Active Health Exchange in 2015, rates for medical coverage increased an average of just 5.3 percent. That’s lower than the industry average and includes costs associated with the Affordable Care Act.
Companies participating in the Aon Active Health Exchange also reduced their overall health care cost for medical coverage by more than $750 per employee compared to their expected 2014 spending. These numbers factored in the savings delivered through the private exchange model and the impact of employee choices to buy higher, as well as lower deductible plans. Average health care costs were $8,342 per employee, down from $9,098 per employee.
