Dean Health Plan Receives Gold Well Workplace Award

Dean Health Plan (DHP) is now a two-time winner of the prestigious Gold Well Workplace award, from the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA).  The WELCOA award is designed to recognize quality and excellence in workplace health.  In order to be a recipient of this award, a company must strive for and meet a wide array of stringent workplace wellness criteria.  This award shows Dean Health Plan’s high level of commitment to employee health and well being of almost 600 employees.

Lon Sprecher, CEO, says of the award:For Dean Health Plan, being committed to employee health is not only a goal; we see it as a way of life, and integrate it into our workday at Dean Health Plan.  Not only will we continue to contribute to the well being of our employees, but we’re constantly evaluating current programs and devising new ways to facilitate this healthy atmosphere.”

WELCOA defines a Well Workplace as an organization that takes responsibility to invest in the health and well being of its employees.  Dean Health Plan, along with all award recipients, implements a variety of wellness initiatives to promote a healthy lifestyle among employees.   The Gold award recognizes companies that have successfully built comprehensive workplace wellness initiatives and are demonstrating concrete results.

“Good companies know that their employees are their most valuable asset,” said David Hunnicutt, President of WELCOA.  “Great companies adopt policies that support employees’ efforts to reduce health risks and are bold about motivating them through bold strategies, programs, and tactics. Great companies know that by improving their employees’ health, they can reduce health care costs.”

Dean Health Plan is one of the largest and most diversified HMOs in the Midwest, administering health insurance plans for more than 300,000 members in Wisconsin.  The company maintains a position of leadership in insurance services through a provider-led integrated health system that improves the health status of its members and delivers a superior level of service and care.
