Dean Clinic Reinforces Commitment to Quality Patient Education

Dean now offers interactive online programs for patients to learn more about their health procedures and conditions

Dean is partnering with Emmi Solutions to provide patients with easy-to-understand, easily accessible medical information. Emmi programs are interactive, web-based presentations that guide patients through an animated overview of medical information to help them prepare for a procedure or manage a chronic condition.

After a Dean physician prescribes a patient a confidential access code, the patient can then share the programs with family members and friends as desired.  The programs are available in English, with many available in Spanish.

“One of the most important things physicians can do to engage patients is to ensure they truly understand their disease or injury and the treatment options available to them,” said Larry Elfman, MD, Dean Clinic Pediatrician and Medical Informatics. “We believe that by using Emmi programs, patients will boost both their knowledge and confidence level.”

Emmi programs educate patients about specific medical conditions, the risks and benefits of treatment, and what to expect before, during and after a procedure.  The programs use a unique multimedia approach and conversational voice to make complex medical information easy to understand for patients and their families, and can be accessed from any computer or mobile device with internet access.

If you would like to view any of our 80 Emmi programs, they are available to you at www.deancare.com/emmi.
