Dean Clinic and WISC-TV3 Announce Newest Time for Kids “Recipe Contest” Winner
Crestwood Elementary School Student Scores New Bike After Submitting Healthy Recipe
10-year-old Katalina Sanchez of Madison was named the winner of the second Time for Kids “Recipe Contest.” Katalina submitted one of her favorite recipes, popcorn squares made with peanut butter and honey.
“Katalina’s grandma heard about the contest,” says mom, Krystal Sanchez. “Katalina is very creative, so we she decided to enter the contest.”
The contest is part of a year-long campaign called “Time for Kids, Recipe for Health.” Dean Clinic and WISC-TV3 have joined forces to raise awareness about childhood obesity and to help improve the health of families in our community.
As the contest winner, Katalina picked out the bike of her choice at Budget Bicycle Center in Madison. Budget Bicycle Center pitched in to help donate the bike.
“I’m really excited,” says Katalina.
“Giving away a bike is a great way to get a child excited about getting out and being active,” says Dr. Craig Samitt, President & CEO of Dean Clinic. “When you pair that with the idea of kids creating and submitting their own healthy recipes, it really is a great recipe for health.”
Studies show kids tend to eat better when they help prepare the food. So as part of the campaign, Dean Clinic and WISC-TV3 are encouraging kids to become smart chefs and submit their own tasty and healthy recipes.
If your child has a healthy recipe for other kids to try, submit it online at www.deancare.com/timeforkids.
If the recipe is approved by Dean’s health experts, it will be posted on the web for the whole world to try! So get the creative juices flowing and help your kids create their own recipe for health! The next prize drawing will be the middle of May.
