Dean Foundation Reading Clinic
Providing Scientific Help for Struggling Readers

Who is the Dean Foundation Reading Clinic for?
The Dean Foundation Reading Clinic is an innovative program that helps children who suffer from many different types of reading disabilities.
About 20% of children are struggling readers and only a small number of these children qualify for specialized help in school. We help ALL children who struggle to read, no matter what the cause. If you sense a problem, do not hesitate to call! The longer you wait to get help for a child with reading difficulties, the harder it will be for that child to catch up.
What to expect
- We will provide an in-depth reading evaluation to determine the cause of the reading difficulty.
- Lesson plans will be specially created for each student based on their individual needs.
- Students and parents will attend one on one tutoring sessions.
- Our tutors will consult with the student’s teachers and train parents how to teach the program so learning can continue at home.
Special help for children with dyslexia
Children who suffer from dyslexia usually have normal vision, normal intelligence and normal speech but they may have trouble interpreting spoken language and writing. Dyslexia is the most common learning disability in children. However, because of common misconceptions, the majority of children who suffer from dyslexia go undiagnosed.
Our experts work with researchers at Tufts University and use state-of-the-art techniques to meet the needs of students with dyslexia.
Our Experts
The Reading Clinic is run by Al Arnold, MS and Dan Gustafson, PhD. Al Arnold is a former reading teacher, principal and university instructor. Dr. Dan Gustafson, is a Neuropsychologist who conducts in-depth evaluations of dyslexia and other learning problems.
We are proud to be endorsed by Dr. Maryanne Wolf, one of the top reading remediation experts in the world. Dr. Wolf is the Director of the Center for Reading and Language Research at Tufts University and a Research Scientist with Harvard Medical School.
Lessons & Pricing
The cost of reading lessons is based on a sliding scale and determined by family size and income.
We strive to help all struggling readers, regardless of their ability to pay for lessons. A scholarship fund is available to assist students who are not able to afford lessons.
